free will almost again cd/sun return lp

i don't know what the title is. i've seen it listed as both so i'm calling it both. that way i can't be wrong! anyway free will were a californian melodic punk band that recorded a demo in 1988 and these 10 songs. these songs were originally gonna be an lp called sun return but was never released until lost and found records released it with the other title. really good melodic punk with some great riffs and vocals. it's a da,m shame they didn't stick around longer. according to the blog i ripped this off from (hey it's obscure as fuck!) some of the members formed stone telling and rerecorded 9 of these songs for an album released in 1994. if anyone has that album get in touch. this is really great melodic punk and everyone should get it somehow. sadly the blog where i got it from has gone bust. get it somewhere. oh and nice mix as well

deceive 2011 ep cd

this band played at the anvil show. they were right after black oil (that groove band) and right before anvil. personally social overload remains the best of the openning bands for me. i love them so much i asked them to play at my house. they did. it was amazing. anyway this is a weird band. this is two studio songs and two very very very shitty live trakcs. the studio songs are pretty good quality (though worms is in mono) and musically the bands is pretty good. the vocals wile good are just too extream for the music. i talk to the singer online and he's a nice guy but i'm objective so. it sounds kinda weird to be honest. especially on worms it sounds off. the music really isn't that heavy. it's still pretty heavy but i think modern death metal vocals (the kind this guy uses) kind of overpower it. that's just my opinion. overall this is a pretty good death metal record. i want to hear more stuff by them to see how they improve. it's a good starting point. just a short one today. gotta listen to more social overload hahahaha.

the freeze misery loves company lp

well here's another one i've been sitting on this one for slightly different reasons. i got a coppy of this online but it was a really low quality version and i don't like to review things unless they're the best quality. i mean if it's a lowfy album that's fine but if it's a shitty rip of an album i'm waiting til i can find a good one. well this took me um i don't know 2/3 years (i forget) to track down. i went out to amoeba and usually they never have anything by the freeze. well they did this time. for those of you who don't know the freeze is one of my favorite hardcore bands which is why i've reviewed 5 records up til now. this is the album after rabid reaction. i don't know if they broke up or what but this album came out in 1991. you can notice a change in the music. it's a tad slower but that's about it. still the same ol freeze if a little more melodic. same dark lyrics. pouder, rock, and pills is a great one. talking bombs was my first taste of the freeze although i didn't know it. i heard a cover of the song by the unseen. the freeze's version is way better but who cares. my friend zach doesn't seem to like this one for some reason. i love it. all i need is crawling blind and a few others and i have all the albums. ah well gonna have to wait. get this if you like melodic punk. if not go fuck yourself. hey someone had to say it!

ed gein motherfucker 2006 demo

i had this for two years before i even thought about reviewing it for two reasons. one was i was reviewing so many other records that this one kinda slipped through. the second is i knew nothing about these guys. i got this from archive.org randomly. well my knolage has vastly improved within the last two minutes thanks to one blog (scumfeastmetal666.blogspot.com) so now i have a little bit of knolage (any bit of info would have vastly expanded my knolage) turns out they were a side project of a black metal band called zog. they were from chicago and were a three piece. sadly the band didn't last long as the drummer and guitarist died leaving bassest/vocalist marc broude the only surviving member. one of the more trajic storys of punk/metal. anyway on to the music! oh and i'm not gonna tell you who ed gein was look him up. anyway what we have is a 4 song blast of grindcore. sounds to me like it's more hardcore punk then metal kinda like early napalm death. egm sounds nothing like nd but you get the idea it's more on the punk scale. real short too (grindcore songs must never be long!) and really good production for a demo. nice lyrics and titles too. overall this is a pretty cool release but it's a shame they couldn't do more. i hope this lifts the band up out of total obscurity though with my blog that will never happen!

gism sonic crime therapy cd

well what have we got here? a reunion album from gism? oh boy. let's see how bad this is. except it's not. i have a generally low opinion of bands reuniting for the simple reason that it just won't sound as good as the old days. bands usually try to recreate the old days and most of the time it's pure shit. except with these japanese punks? metalheads? both? this is a fucking weird record. i mean the first one was weird wile the second one was kind of normal by gism standards. this one is just fucked. the singer hasn't lost any of his voice though it's changed a bit and he roles his rs more. the rest of the band are amazing pounding out interesting punkmetaal with some really good solos and weird shit. i can't recomend this cd enough. nice raw mix too. get this is you're a fan of weird punk metal that's not crossover but just original japanese awesomeness

bonded by blood feed the beast cd

alright. i got this last summer (i'm behind the times i know) and i really like thrash so let's delv into this. bbb are a local band from la and i may know some friends of the band. i'm fucking connected! haha. anyway first thing i have to take issue with is the name. bonded by blood is one of my favorite albums and the only exodus album i'll likely ever listen too. the album is as perfect a metal album as you can fine. so why the fuck would a band be named after something unbeatable? it's part of that retro movement that i hate so much. sorry bbb but you'll never be as good as exodus. it's like if i formed a speed metal band and called it metal on metal. i really wish they'd change the name. anyway into the music. strange mix on this. reminds me of anvil's plenty of power in the mix. sounds to digital to me. i'm not one of these people who always wants a professional mix (i listen to hardcore punk afterall) but the mix is just strange to me. also the singer gets a bit annoying after a while. it sounds like he has no control over his voice and is tone def. d.r.i already did that thank you. it's worse on the second album and i think he's out of the band. maybe i'm just an old man (ha ha) but his voice is a bit much sometimes. the music is pretty kickass thrash. about what you'd expect from an earache band (btw when the hell did earache start signing all these thrash bands? i remember when they were a punk label) not bad at all. i'm a thrash fan so i like this kind of stuff but some of my older friends won't touch it cause they see it as retrothrash. i'd have to agree with that but i like it anyway. doesn't sound too much like exodus to me (they asked for it cause of the band name) hahah. get this if you enjoy thrash with an anoying singer. then get d.r.i's post-1985 albums and compare who's more anoying?

the underlings edgy cd

hey bitches! and um not bitches. elliott is back with the best record of 2012. as many of you will remember i ranted about how i loved these guys when they released the first album and the ep. now they're back and better than ever! the music verys from sped up punk rock to poppy melodic numbers to rockers. they even have a song about a race track (written for me. well i don't know that but i'm gonna say it was) so you know it's great. ed's guitar playing and vocals are the best they've ever been and the band is great as well. i wish it was more than 10 songs as when it ends i want more and more! good job guys. great lyrics too. get this as soon as you can and remember that at least one great band still exists

larm extream noise discography cd

yeah i know you swedish readers (if i have any) will make fun of me because i don't know how to put that thing over the a. ah well. larm as you all know were from holand. they existed in the mid-1980s and put out three or 4 records. this has them all. every record is amazing thrash like you've never heard it played before. so angry, so tight, so....larm! this cd has 75 songs on it. 75 songs! it'll make you wish you'd never been born by the time you get done with it. the nothing is hard in this world tracks though have a weird guitar sound. i'm not sure if they tooned down or what. also on this is a demo song by a pre-larm band. the drummer has no drums. he uses chairs. amazing! if you're a fan of hardcore, powerviolence, grindcore, or just love extream noise (btw yes that's where extream noise terror got the name) get this and enjoy! even if you're not straightedge or left wing. it's a must own for any punk.
