anal cunt fuckin a cd

this is my 330th post and what better way to mark this meaningless event then to review one of my favorite new releases of the new year. yes it is anal cunt's newest offering fuckin a. kind of a weird album for axcx. it's 30 minutes long but it has only 10 songs. what? have they sold out? no you asshole! this is kind of a consept album where the amazing seth putnam takes on 80s cock rock bands. that's right a grindcore cock rock punk album. the musissionship is shit then again if you buy an anal cunt album for the music you're pretty stupid. this is a little less cock rock then i would have hoped. i was expecting a full on glam album with seth singing in a high voice. what you get is as i said a weird mix of cock rock and punk with awesome lyrics. i mean how can you not like a song called kickin your ass and fuckin your bitch? classic stuff. seth's vocals are as awesome as ever. get this if you want a laugh or just really love cock rock punk. and sing it with me fuck yeah! fuck yeah!

tma what's for dinner? lp

yes he's back with another one that one person will read. tma was a band out of new jersey. this lp was released in 1984 on jimboco records. now this lp is um i don't know. a joke? i think they were just having fun on this. suck my dick surf nazi? mmm very serious stuff. i can't describe this. just check it. very very good hardcore punk. i actually like the mix on this it's punk sounding. profane lyrics but that's just fine. they released a 2nd lp which i'd love to hear. if anyone has a good rip of it let me know and you'll be rewarded. one funny story in one of the songs i thought the singer said i've got a brain up my ass when in fact i think he saud i got a brain of my own. so check it out!!!!!

leprous hades ep

well this is another local band with a great sound. this is some great 80s type death metal. as great as this is i can't help but think that the 80s are over, they've been over for some time. still this is one brutal 3-track ep. i especially like the guitar sound and the vocals. if the singer is reading this then you are amazing! the only problem with it is i think they could have sped it up a little. oh well. if anyone has the 211 demo i want to hear that. not much more i can say. get it and enjoy!

jack and the rippers no desire/i feel like a tram 7

well i woke up today and i just needed to post something. i couldn't think of anything to review except this little slab. i do have a huge collection of records i still have to do but i haven't got a chance to really listen. anyway let's get on to the record. i'm really not sure if this is pop or punk. pop punk? both songs are classic punk songs. i really can't decide which song is better. i guess some people don't like the flip. i on the other hand love both songs. i think this is a swiss band with a brittish singer. not that much i can say downloas this or buy a reissue. it's not hard to find a rip of it. anyway enjoy.

jfa nowhere blossums lp

i really don't know what this album is. i mean they seem to try different stiles from the metallic drumming of pink slip to the amazing riffs in julie's song. well maybe i don't know what this is but i can tell you what this isn't. it's not punk. it doesn't even pretend to be. for those of you who don't know jfa branched out a little on the first two lps from a streightup skate band to a really cool skate surf thing band. but i'll bet noone was expecting this. i reallt like it though. i can't explain why. i just really like it. it's different but good. i'm probly the only one who will like this but still. check this out. it would have been interesting to hear jfa expand on this sound but they've returned to playing very good skatecore. one of the things i love about jfa is even though they're playing punk again they're doing it the way they want. in other words they're not just putting out another blatent localism every album. anyway this can be found on the net i'm pretty sure so do a search and you'll find it. and tell me what you think.

pantera metal magic lp

this just seams like a good day to post. been sick pretty much all this week. still a little sick but mentally more awake than i've been all week. so let's review a record. you all know pantera by now. well this is the band's first album before they went um whatever they were i guess groove. what you'll find here is cheesy as hell glam that i like very much. i don't know why but i can't hate this. some speed metal moments but for the most part a bad poison knockoff. and that's why everyone needs this. i'm really not sure why they don't reissue this. i mean yeah it's cheesy but isn't cheese great? isn't that why 60s horror movies are so great? anyway if you don't like cock rock than don't get this but if you do or you just enjoy unoriginal records get this. you can find this easy enough on the net. and no phil is not singing. it's tery glaze. he actually does a good job in my opinion. so yeah get this and rock out!!

poison idea darby crash rides again 7 ep

this is a reissue of the demo they recorded. not as fast as the amazing pick your king ep but just as if not more powerful. 11 songs some also some songs that aren't on the ep. very good guitar sound too. pi were a great band back in the 80s with some of the angryest shit i've heard. you can tell they like the germs not just from the title but also the music. also i think the label this is on is american leather. anyway get this however you can.

jfa speed of sound cd

i really have trouble with this cd. this was put out in late 2010 i think. it's a good cd. jfa's 16th release. it's still skate punk. but it doesm't sound that much like them. i almost thought i'd grabbed the wrong cd. brian sounds si different. also it's a bit more rock than the old stuff. still it's some good skatecore and isn't that what counts? some very funny songs. like i think it's called i don't like chocolate cake is about how the old bassest refused a cake made by his girlfriend. asshole. some songs though are very serious, don't really know if anyone will like this. check it out though. you night actually like it.

Friday, April 1, 2011

well i'm done. this blog will be deleted. i am also deleting my email, facebook, and selling my computer and records. i've had it with punk and metal. it's time for me to get a real job. maybe go into law. april fools!!!! yeah i know not the best one but it's early in the morning. on another note i'm going to see jfa later today.

psycho 8 song 12ep

i just felt like posting. this is the same psycho that i reviewed earlyer this year. well sort of the same. i think they only have one original member. anyway this is way different from the later stuff. what we have is a cool mix of hardcore punk and sometimes powerpop. the first song is a cover of the sonics' classic psycho where the band got it's name. some fast songs and some slow ones. i'm surprised i never reviewed this sooner because i had this for like three years. when i first heard this the first question i had was why did gg allin think they'd back him up? then when i heard the later stuff i figured out why. killed by death records has it. i also have a demo to review.

agnostic front victim in pain lp

first of all sorry my last post sucked. i want to make it up with this review. af's first lp released in 84 on the great ratcage records. a little more structured than the united blood 7 that i raved about way way way back but only a little more. maybe it's just me but i could see a little metal coming in. also what's up with roger's voice? it's i don't know how to describe it. it's just different. also it's a very short lp too. maybe it's a mlp. i'm not sure. this is just simple nyhc. you can find this anywhere cause it's been reissued. so if you don't have it get it and thrash!!!!!

r.i.p phil vane

this is late but just a quick little r.i.p to phil vane of extrene noise terror. he died some weeks ago of unknown causes. sucks cause ent is a great band. another dead punk star. sucks. i could do a huge writeup about everything phil did but let's let another blog do that. let's just listen to ent and remember what phil has meant to us. i'll say it when i heard about phil's passing i shed a tear. so let's bring out our old ent records and thrash. but in the middle of the thrashing just think about phil. anyway a more uplifting post is coming.

misery addict s/t cd ep

this one's for andrew. well you should all know misery addict as one half of the split with beasts. this ep is in the same stile as the split songs. pissed off manic punk from england. one thing about this band that i really like is these guys can actually play and andrew can sing pretty damn well. listen to they don't know. best song on the ep just cause it's the slowest and probly the longest. as i said in the other review of these guys this band isn't too fast but they put it all into power and energy. fucking energy. i mean i've heard plenty of bands that just play and have no anything be it power or whatever. misery addict to me at least is one of the best new bands i've heard. and i'm not just saying that cause andrew is a hell of a nice person or because he follows this blog. hell if i thought his band was pure shit i'd tell him. but i don't. i refuse to suck up to anyone. everything i've said about a band on this blog is true. if i change my opinion i'll do a rereview like with get it away. anyway i don't want to spoil this record, i'm not sure how you can get it cause i heard they're not selling em anymore. shame really cause this fuckin rocks. get it however you can and as i keep saying leave a fuckin comment!

just another update

Monday, March 7, 2011

just a little rant. you know what i hate? all these old bands still playing and pretending like they're 15 years old. man that pisses me off. like the big 4 bands of thrash metal playing together. big deal. if it was 1982 that would be different. but guess what? it's not. it's 2010. these guys are all old fuckers who couldn't givt a shit about metal anymore. don't get me wrong i have heard some new records by old bands that are really good. that psycho record is a pure headfuck. but most old bands i've seen suck so bad. i heard about this show with morbid angel and some other classic metal bands a while ago. great. if it was 1986 that is. i don't want to see a bunch of old men trying to be cool. fuck that. fuck it all. sorry for the rant. i'm just sick of it. i'd like to see some bands before i die but bands like morbid angel or metallica would have been fun in the 80s but now it's just sad.

boogie nazis 4 years and still swimming cd

alright some surf music will do me good. kind of had a hard couple of days so this is the perfect thing to chill out too. well we've got a very original band here. i'd call them surf punk with a little hc thrown in. i can't say they sound like anyone i've heard of. i don't know much about these guys other then they're from arizona and this is a discography of everything they've done. i'm not sure what all bthey've put out other then a kickass tape. any help? this band does mix it up a lot with some ultrafast songs and some pure surf songs. you can download this for free on cllct.com. but as always i had to get a hardcoppy of this. well that's what i'm playing right now. it comes with a cool poster thing. these guys are putting out a 12 soon. go to hpr and get the info about the little contest they're having. i want a coppy of the 12. hopefully they're shipping it to a store near me. if not i'll just order it but it's cool to go to record stores and look through the lps or 7s. as soon as that comes out and i get it i'll review that record. so get this and pretend you can surf like i do. really i've never tryed. coming soon two records by one of my favorite bands misery addict plus more 80s records.

gg allin expose yourself to kids 7

more scum punk from the king of music gg allin. you all should know by now where gg is in my list of great punk rocker. number fuckin 1. this came out in i think 87. i want to play this to every youth crew fuck and watch them try to run. honestly if your offended by this then you can fuck off and listen to dashboard confessional or whatever you wimp. i know zach is gonna hate this. oh well. the tracks on here are all great my favorite would have to be um i can't pick one though hanging out with jim was my theme song for a while. gypsy motherfucker has some of the best lyrics i've ever heard. and the title track is just perfect. get this now. way better than beatlescore right?

never thought i'd say this but

well as anyone who knows me will know i've talked a lot of shit on what was formerly the indy racing league or irl and is just called indycar. you all know about the split and "reunification" and if you don't than look it up. and now they've let fucking tony george the man who ruened openwheel back in. but one of the things they do do is post races for free download. you can get a podcast of every izod indycar series race for that year and if you go to youtube you can watch old races. now as everyone should know i love watching old races. so thank you indycar for putting races up for free. and thanks to the others who do it. now if you guys could get rid of tony george and maybe hang him that would make me so damn happy. tony if you're reading this you're a fucking asshole and you need to wear a shirt that says i killed indycar on it. fuck off you old pile of dogshit. oh and vision racing sucked. a.j the 400000000000000th couldn't drive for shit and the same goes for special ed. okay enough ranting. punk review coming.

psycho 2010 7 ep

ah yes psycho. the same psycho who recorded with gg allin and did the 8 song ep are back. if you don't know psycho after the 8 song ep they got harder and harder and i think better and better. this record looks sharp. i mean it's cut into a saw and is actually pretty sharp. i don't know but i think 500 were made of this. i never know pressing info cause i really don't care. anyway the music is what you'd expect from psycho. 4 fast gritty songs with no regard for playing well. just the way i like it. they even do a gg cover. check it out to find out which one it is.

Redd Kross - Red Cross

i forget how they spell their name now. anyway la sure had some really good bands unlike now when it's all shit pop punk. actually i have heard some good new street punk from la but i've also heard some real shit bands. anyway awesome as hell la beach punk with the dude from circle jerks on guitar though i don't know if he plays on this record. also i know ron from black flag played drums one time. a little note. the circle jerks stole the guitar rif from cover band and used it on live fast die young on the first lp. hmm. i wonder why. anyway this ep is real short so it really should be on a 7 but whatever. this ep was actually included on a few compilations and it's been reissued a few times. what i love about this is they are so young. i mean listen to those backing vocals. they're just kids! not really to much to say on this one. get it and enjoy or die! i also have the first lp produced by the singer of rf7 zach's favorite band. i'll review that too. it's slightly different but still very good. see ya.

look blue go purple compilation cd

this is a discography of the amazing all girl pop band look blue go purple. if you don't like this your weird. i'm not sure how to put their sound into words. it's kind of a mix of girly pop with weird almost new wave sound. i don't think that's a good description. zach? any thought on the sound? this discography is fucking amazing. but it has it's little problems. at first i didn't want this because the title made it seem like it was one of those best of things. plus the tracks aren't in order i don't think. it really doesn't matter though. this is a musthave for anyone who like me is a sucker for those female vocals. get it however you can. i'm not sure what label it's on but find it damnet! fave tracks are grace, 100 times, i don't want you anyway and of corse cactus cat. actually the whole album just rocks. oh and on a side note' thanks zach for the tape of the thfs demo. there's one more person i want to thank but i'll save that for when i review his stuff. you know who you are. anyway more coming up so make sure you keep checking back.

the freeze live from cape cod 1980 lp

this is the fuckin freeze. you know what i'm saying? this record was recorded at the cape cod club in 1980. now as we know that by 1980 they were not hardcore. they were just punk. i don't know if this was recorded before or after the band's first 7 but it's the same kind of punk. what i liked about this one is they still sound like the freeze. even at this early stage they were still amazing. and some of the songs are early versions of songs that would be on later albums. you should all get this. i mean it.

baby shakes s/t lp

well i don't want to sleep so let's put on some powerpop and review a record. sounds good to me. baby shakes are a pop group of i think three girls and a rotating drummer thing going on. this was put out in 08 i think. it's great powerpop done right. what more do i need to say? the first track doesn't get you ready for the album. it just dives right in. not much more i can really say. i don't want to spoil the fun. if you like powerpop you need to get this and i mean now. and if anyone from the band stops by could you give some info on where to get this? it's like all the records i review. you need to get them all. just not level. do not get that one. this one is a must though. i'll be back with another review later.

The Underlings - Vice Squad 7"

this is for ed wherever you are. he gave me this record in october along with the gw testpress. i reviewed the gw 7 a long time ago so let's start on this one. now if you'll remember i reviewed the underlings cd and said how great this band is. well get ready for more of the same. the first song vice squad is a killer poppy song with great lyrics and ed's great voice. the other two on hear are faster but just as good. i'm not sure what 2nd best is about but i think it's talking about christians. i could be way wrong. that song is sung by the band's bassest who also has a really good voice. the third song is black white which is the fastest song on the record. again a really good song with great vocals and great lyrics. then it's over and you want to play it again. you need to own this along with the cd. don't just get one or the other. you need both. this band is one of the best new bands around and i'm not just saying that. listen to them. it's cool how they don't fit in one genre. actually if you ask me to describe them i'd say really melodic punk. yes it's punk. anyway get this now.

beasts/misery addict split 7

well first off thank you for all the comments. really means a lot to me. now let's get on with this review. first off i'd like to say this shouldn't have taken this long to do. andrew of misery addict emailed me in november with this record. i couldn't go on the net though and so it sat until january. however i'm still having trouble with mediafire so i emailed zach of hardcore punk reviews asking for help. being the great guy that he is zach helped me by putting the zip file on archive.org. well i downloaded it. and my computer crashed. i was sure i deleted it so i was about to send andrew another email. but first i did what you should always do. i looked in the trash. sure enough the email was sitting waiting for me to open it. to make a long story long i have it now. so why don't we get on with this review. this is a great way to do a split. what they did is have both bands do two songs then put one song by each band on one side. so you hear both bands on both sides. that's the way it should be done. now onto the music. first up is beasts. they're kind of metallic and technical. i really like the two songs they have. some people are put off by the screamed vocals but i like them. and then there's misery addict. you know the saying save the best for last? well they did on this split. now i love beasts. and i looooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeee misery addict. not that fast but still hc. some people don't like how many times the singer says fuck. well i say grow the fuck up! i don't get offended by anything. i can't say that this sounds like anything else but i like that on the last song you can hear a bit of melody. really good split. word of advice to anyone putting together a split. have two different sounding bands on it. that's why this split works so well. both bands have their own sound. everyone should get this. i hear you can order off misery addict's site but i guess they've never really shipped out of the uk. they're cool guys so they'd probably try to do it. maybe the band won't care if someone puts a link to a download in the comments. hope to hear more from both bands. enjoy this awesome split with two of the uk's finest new bands.

300th post!!!!!!!

yes! post 300. so many people to thank. thanks brian, justin and ed of garden weasel for being cool and coming around more than once. thanks to jessie of the throwaways and buck of the modernettes for answering my questions. thanks eric for coming and leaving comments. thanks andrew of misery addict who shared his band's split with me and will be my next review. thanks erich and peter for inspiring me to do my own thing. special thanks goes out to all of my friends including beth, mercy, and that whole group. even though i don't think you've seen this blog you've inspired me through your love of music. and a very very very special thank you goes out to zach rykse who well i don't think i have to list everything he's done for this blog and hopefully i've returned the favor. if i don't mention your name i am so sorry. i look forward to 300 more posts and a lot more comments. thanks for being pary of the elliott sucks team. i am so greatful to have people like you guys here. anyway tomorrow i'll have that split up. thank you once again.

g.i.s.m m.a.n lp

this is my 299th post and i'm trying to decide what to do for my 300th. i have a split that i've been wanting to review for ever but also i want to do a special post. oh i'll think of something. the next review will be the split. anyway on to the review. i know what your thinking two posts in one day? is he back? hell yeah i'm back! i haven't felt this good about my blog in over a year. remember january of last year? oh man i was on fire. and i'm back man. and what better way to bring in the rebirth of my passion than gism. this is the followup to the amazing detestation lp. check that out. well if you couldn't tell they liked metal you can tell now. holy shit. the music sounds way different than on detestation. but the vocals are still the same amazing rasps as on the first album. this isn't pure metal but it's much more metallic than the first one. get this one at once. gism rules. all should know that. get this and tell em i sent you.
BioThreat viable progress demo

i know this isn't going to get any comments but i feel i must do this. for those who don't know BioThreat is a crossover thrash band from southern california. this demo has three great tracks. all are very good crossover played right. as you can see from the title this band doesn't sing about partying and fucking. this is a political band. these guys have a two vocalest thing and just sounds great. not sure how you can get this. i know all three songs are on myspace so check em out. i can't ttell you how much i love this cd. if anyone from this band is reading this you've got to put this somewhere. come on guys.

negative fx s/t lp

first off i've worked out a solution to the weird sign thing. now the title of the record is in the body of the post. you can still leave comments and stuff but you can't click on the title anymore. anyway onto the review. this is one of the records zach sent. i guess he doesn't like this band but i do. negative fx were choke's first band and one of his best. ultra fast hc from boston. streightedge as all hell but i just love the music. i first heard negative fx on american hardcore and tried so not hard to get this. it's not that i didn't like it. actually i loved what i heard. it's just that i found so many other records. anyway i finally got this. so great! simple thrash. later on choke would do more oi like music but he started off doing this. if you like hardcore you have to hear this once. if you are really streightedge and think anyone who drinks is satan reborn than you'll love the lyrics to this and slapshot. funny that the best music often has stupid lyrics. get this and enjoy. not sure if this is in print but if it's not than download it. i know you do it. anyway more reviews commin up shortly. i'm back baby!

help

if someone can help me with this strange thing that's been creaping up on all my new posts i would be forever greatful. i'm talking about the weird signs at the title. i can't fix the white wires one and that's why i haven't been posting. please help! in return you'll get your name mentioned on this blog. thanks

the white wires WWII 12 ep
well i'm back and ready for more reviews. let's start off this season the way hpr did with canada's white wires. this is by far the best record of at least 2010 maybe more. great powerpop of the kind that would make eric say i've gone soft. i really can't stop listening to this record. in fact i loved it so much i went to amoeba and baught a coppy for myself. i mean yeah i buy coppys of most of the records i find on the net but it's very rare that i get it the next day after i've heard it. i guess the band realeased an lp before this but i haven't heard it. zach says it's crap but that could go both ways. i've also seen a cd version of this. the reason i called this a 12 ep is that it plays at 45 rpm. so maybe it's a minny lp. who really cares? go get this record. i can't say anymore than it's great cause i'll spoil it. just get it now.

मय्बे done

i may delete this blog and start over. let's face it. this blog sucks almost as much as i do. so i might just go and do another blog. yeah it's been fun but it it's also been a bit of a drag. i'll tell you something i would have quit long before this if it wasn't for the kindness of everyone who's ever come to my little bloggy. to this day the worst thing i've heard is my spelling sucks. other than that i've only heard good things. if i do start another blog i hope that my fans will stick with me. and yes i said fans. i count as a fan so that makes two. anyway hope you'll stick with me.

Monday, January 3, 2011

i'm back

hi. i know you've missed me. well stop crying cause i'm fuckin back for good. i just wish i could have done at least one more post before 2011. anyway another review is coming up so hold on. by for now.

the freeze land of the lost lp

if zach doesn't like this record he's insane or he just likes to not like things. i mean this guy has an unpredictable taste. i find something i think he'll like and he doesn't. but in a way that's cool. i just kind of wish he'd relise that metal is awesome. anyway is this actually an lp?it plays at 45 rpm.oh well. great melodic hardcore. i really like this record but in my opinion rabid reaction is better. i'm n6t sure why. maybe it's just that it's a little more melodic. whatever the case may be this album still smokes. only thing is cliff's vocals are a bit thin and i think he doubletracked some of them. i don't have a favorite song on hear because i think this album like everything by the freeze should just be listened too from start to finish. i will say that the instraments are well produced. and the cover! classic. we need to update it and make it into a poster. this is not hard to find at all. unless you want an original in which case good fuckin luck. you need to get this album though. and everything by the freeze for that matter including the new stuff because i've heard it's great. and zach i know you'll like this one i was just joking at the beginning of the post.

the fartz because this fucking world stinks 7 ep

i've been wondering. will this blog be around in 30 years? or 1 year for that matter. we'll just have to see i guess. got a package from ed of garden weasel containing a gw test press 7 and the underlings 7. will review the underlings 7 as soon as i can. already reviewed the gw 7 but maybe a rereview is in order. i like rereviews except it doesn't drive up the count of posts. it's about how many posts you have not what's in em. hahaha. maybe i'll do some more. anyway onto the damn review. well i move from a record that zach hates to a record that he may like. or not. i don't know. anyway with a name like the fartz you'd think it's some stupid silly punk band. far from it. this band i guess has some pretty anarchest lyrics. pretty cool. really cool hardcore punk. put out in 81 i think and it fuckin shreds from a to zed! everything is just right on this record. the drummer later played in the horible guns n roses. the singer later sang in the accused a really good crossover band with cool horror lyrics. will have to review that some time. the fartz later released a 12 ep that i'd really like to hear. i'm guessing this has been reissued. get that.

ss decontrol get it away 12 ep

repost from march of 2010 because i can and because i've changed my opinion on this record. for historical reasons (and to make this post longer) i'll keep the old review which went like this.

cool ssd. let's put it on. hmm a little slower. oh my god! what is that! is someone taking a shit or dying! oh shit those are the vocals! turn it off! make it stop! do i have to say more. slower, twin guitars, and horible i mean horible vocals. like i said i can't tell if he's taking a shit or being stabbed. and the aweful streightege lyrics! this is the only complete record on the power album. don't get it. spare your ears. and this is coming from someone who loves screeming vocals. it's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!

now for the new review. well after hearing what the original vinyl sounded like my opinion is vastly different. i know why i felt like that. hell the kids lp was amazing with how fast it was and how raw. this is not very fast and kind of clean. but it really is a great record. i can understand how someone may not like springa's voice because it's so damn high but just listen! you can hear the anger. i don't think however that this is one of the greatest punk records ever. the kids is way better. but that doesn't mean it's not a good record. i like that buzcocks cover at the end. the lyrics might not be something i agree with (i'm not streight-edge and i don't like the crew unity thing) but they're from the heart. i'm sure zach will trash this record up and down. whatever. i need some comments about how much people hate records i review. oh and the two guitar attack is amazing. overall this is a great record. get the original though not the power comp. for a record called power the get it away tracks seam very clean and powerless. they don't have any distortion at all. so yeah get the original and start saying how much you hate this record!

negative approach tied down lp

well first let me say that zach is god. you'll find out why soon enough. anyway we all know who negative approach is. i reviewed the self titled 7 some time ago. i actually got the total recall cd with everything by the band on it. a bit more musical than the 7. one hard rock/metal track that is good not great but the rest is amazing. slower but they've grown musically and it works. the production is a little thin though. maybe it's just me. get this on the cd or spend hundreds of bucks. your choice. one more thing. vocals are amazing. i don't need to explain. coming up my first (and maybe only) rereview. well it's my only one if someone doesn't help me with that sfa 7 i asked for help on. the post is the get it away 12 by ss decontrol because my feelings have changed so much that the review i had doesn't mean anything except for it's very funny. i'll keep the original but i'll rereview it. soon. probably not the next post but it's comin up.

void condensed flesh demo tape

well i was looking through this blog and realised i had no void posted. well in order to fill the void (sorry couldn't resist) i will review the demo. produced by some guy named ian who was in some band called minor threat. ever heard of em? haha. good sound to this tape. the only thing i didn't like about the dc hardcore thing is that they were so humorless and void provides nothing to convince me otherwise. oh well. just really brutal hc from 1981? i'm not sure about the year (i need to do research before doing these posts) but what i am sure of is that if you don't have this demo i don't like you very much. and if you have a 7 ep with the title condensed flesh don't worry. the demo was released as a 7. this is also a really powerful demo. i mean just listen to it. as erich said "it makes me want to do things. things!" get this somehow. and leave a comment like brian did (thank you man) or zach does.

atomic raygun attack!

you know today i just thought of a band i really liked that broke up last year (god i'm so up to date) called atomic raygun attack. it was really stupid pop punk. i mean they had lyrics about milkshakes, cows, and weird shit like that. i think if they just sang about girls and tried to make it big i wouldn't have liked them but they were just really silly and fun. they even did an ep about the futurama episode the sting. it wasn't anything i'd put on if i wanted to kill people but it was really fun. it really sucks that they broke up and maybe when eric's done with that tour of the world he'll make some more music. if adyone from the band are reading this thank you for the laughs and the music.

necros i.q. 32 7 ep

first of all zach gets the award for best comment ever. he posted the lyrics for public high-school and a little thing went off in my head and i said it's time for necros. this is great midwest hc with one of the guys from the ever wacky touch and go label on bass i think. the vocals are kind of high but it's still very good. they later said they didn't really like these early 7s but i do. i can relate to them. you know i have to take a break from all those political bands and just sing a song about high-school and shit like that. i hate my school is my song right now. i just love how young these guys are. at least they sound young. later on they went metal and if you can point me to that album i would like to hear it. get this somehow. and remember to leave a comment and try to beat that last one.

Witchaven - Terrorstorm [2010]

i don't know shit about witchaven or at least i didn't until now. i heard about them from a few friends and saw that they did exist. i was supposed to see them live but i think we've been there already. so i was just kind of forgot about them til a friend gave me this cd. what can i say? black/thrash metal from southern california. great shit. a mix of satanic songs with more politcal thrashers. i actually like that mix. why just be satanic or political? i know the satanic songs are just filler but please guys keep it up. too many political bands around saying the same thing. i mean even if you agree with what they say why would you want to listen to the same thing over and over again? now on to the actual music. i like the sound clips that they put in. very nice and it shows that they're at least awhere of what the hell's going on. i don't know why they call it black/thrash. i just call it thrash metal because i never liked subsubsubsubgenres.however i w3uld say that there is a huge black metal influence. they makes me want to pit really hard. the mix is gritty and fucking raw. you know that's why i like unsigned bands. they always have this really raw mix that bands with big producers just lack. it sounds more underground. a lot of metalheads don't like this kind of production. i love it. you can keep all your good producers i'll take a tape recorder. the vocals are a well at least to me they're a hybrid of black metal and thrash metal vocals. very nice. hopefully i get to see these guys live (last show i heard about was le mans week which was out of the question) because it sounds like a good time. one of the better releases of 2010. get it if you like metal. if you don't then stay tuned. hc comin up!

sleep sleep's holy mountain cd

black sabbath called. they want their music back. this is a total ripoff of sabbath. na just joking though it does sound a lot like a ripoff. sleep are a stoner/doom metal band from the 90s. this is the band's second album and the only one i have apart from the amazing vol 2 7 on off the disk records. two of the songs from this album appear on that 7. but enough of that. i love the gui1tar sound on this one. very bloosy feel to it. the vocals range from sabbath-like singing to shouting. maybe not the most original band in the world but it works if you like stoner metal which i really do. the lyrics are total stoner lyrics. i have a friend who likes these guys and i can see why. he also likes prog rock (you know who you are) so i can infer he's hit the bong before. am i the only one who can hear some hardcore punk influence? or maybe it's cause they were asbestos death before sleep. i don't really know and i don't really care. you must get this if you like sabbath or stoner metal.

just another thought post

it's way too early in the morning and i've got my music on. but nothing's jumping at me so let's have another rant. it's funny that when this blog started i didn't think i'd do so many reviews. thank you zach. and to anyone who feels i was bragging on the last post first of all fuck off. second i wasn't bragging. i just meant to say hpr rocks and we've helped each other. i'm not saying anyone came up to me and said that and actually i was very careful about my words. anyway we come to the heart of this post if it has a heart. a great blog i follow said he won't post hardcore because basically it's done all over the net so why should he? first of all you could fix some of these links but anyway that's very interesting. i mean i've always run this blog with a policy of not caring what the other blogs do. wait that sounded way too dickheadish even for me. what i'm saying is if it's something i really like i'm reviewing it no matter how many blogs have it. it would be the same if i was posting mp3s. i know what he means though. over the weekend i had one of these why should i things. it's over now but i said the exact same thing. but then i realised something. what is a blog? it's like a fanzine if you ask me. at least for me. granted sometimes i don't write much and i'm really sorry for that and i know my spelling sucks. but really i just love the music. i love it so much that in december of last year i started putting dow what i think about music in the hopes that someone whuld share my demonic music love. that's all it is. i'm not some dude who was in a band 30 years ago. i'm not some dick who thinks everyone should listen to me and i'm not 7inchpunk.com. i'm a fan. that's all. just thought you'd like to read that. i don't know. there was going to be a third thing i was going to write but i forgot. review coming.

happy birthday hardcore punk reviews!

yes the amazing hardcore punk reviews is one year old. i haven't checked the blog to see if he's done anything on this because i just got home. anyway it was founded by some guy named zach in some country called canada. anyway his blog ran pretty good for like three months. then he stopped by the eslod (elliott sucks layer of death) and gave a link to his blog. one of the things that made me save his blog in my favorites was the way he just gave his opinion even if sometimes i'd wonder what was in the water over in canada. haha. anyway a few weeks (months?) passed before i discovered the internet archive. i also discovered zach had a lot of great records and thought it was a sin that he didn't have any downloads. not just for me but for everyone. anyway to make a long story long, i told him about it and now hpr is better then ever. i don't mean to brag or anything. the blog was already great. but i wanted to help make it better. and zach's done a lot for this blog. for one thing he's kepped it going by commenting. also i think if it wasn't for him i wouldn't have gotten the prized spot on the blogroll on gbm. so happy birthday hpr. hope you have many more. and thanks for the music! also if it wasn't for hpe i probably wouldn't be working on music. i'm writing songs for a second fucked up society demo. so let's summarise. hpr rules!

go! there is no man 7 ep

this band probably was around too late for some people and that is a shame cause this band put out some great no bullshit hardcore punk. the last track fear of a gay plannet is actually pretty self explanitory. it's making mun of public enimy for being homophobes. interesting. the other songs are well just awesome. not too much to say. get this at mustard relics. and look for a reissue or something. not sure if it's been reissued. i don't really pay attention to everything coming out. on an unrelated topic erich once asked in a comment on his site good bad music something like if people reissue a record with the original booklet and everything why would someone want an original? personally i think it's good. i mean i don't have the money to get the original cause you fucking egay assholes charge so goddamn much for a record with two fucking songs on it because all you can think about is cashing in. i don't like those people. that's why for the longest time i never went on ebay. anyway i support reissues with everything from the original. when i buy a record i want to have it the way someone had it 30 years ago without having to sell my brain to science (not that they'd take it) to pay for a record. ranting done. get this 7 somehow. or don't. i don't really care.

IQ 55 livet ar en bluff 7

well summer is almost over for me and as usuall i have become a damn hermet for the past 2 months at least as far as i haven't had the chance to hang out with anyone unless you count my music. kind of wish i could replay this summer over and do a few things different. oh well. one of my current favs at the moment is IQ 55. the singer is in my list of best voices (how many is that) he really does have a great voice. the first track livet ar en bluff (life is a joke) is um punk? well yeah. i actually read the english version of the lyrics. depressing as fuck. second song is great as well. i really don't want to describe this because i can't. how do you describe perfection? i also have like three demos by them. they were always great. a question for all the guys reading this who know about this this band. that tape from 83. is that the same singer? he sounds a little different. maybe it's just me. still great though. get it at kbd records. but before that comment on this or any other of my 276 posts and tell me how much you love me! if you don't i'll quit blogging. hahah.

jill kossoris invisible cd

okay so here's the thing. i got the problem fixed two days ago. i really wanted to post but just couldn't. i lack the motivation that i need to formulate my thoughts about a record. what that means is i was out of coffee and didn't want to sleep. so last night i went out to the speedway motorcycle races and that restored me to what passes for motivated. actually unlike most times there was no search for what record i was gonna review. for those of you who don't know (shame on you) jill kossoris was the vocalest for one of the best powerpop bands ever. the shivvers. i posted a lot about them and i heard that 20+years later she did a solo album. finally i got off my ass and bought this. what can i say? this actually took some time for me to embrace it. it's different from anything i have in my collection. you can still hear the powerpop but now she includes country and some others. good thing is she still has that voice. a little older but not bad. not bad at all. i find a lot of these songs get stuck in my head even if i don't always agree with the lyrics (i'm a punk who likes gg allin what do you expect?) still if you like the shivvers and don't mind something a little different get this. if you just want hardcore don't worry. i'll give you hardcore. and pretty soon it's happy birthday for hardcore punk reviews. special post for that too.
